I wore the CEP All Sport Compression Calf Sleeves out on my run today. It was in the upper forties and breezy, so I figured that should take the heat issue out of the equation and that it did. I even ran with my running gloves, which for those who know me is never the case when I'm warm.
Overall, I admit that I didn't feel much. Now, that could be either a negative or positive. It could be that the sleeves didn't really do much and were only an added layer of clothes. But on the other hand, it could be that not feeling much is the lack of excess muscle movement. I'll need to check myself Saturday on my next run to see if I can feel anything different than what I felt today.
From the comments in yesterday's full review (catch it HERE) and talking with bloggers it seems that most people use the compression socks on longer runs both for the ability TO run longer as well as to avoid shin splints. Since I only ran four miles today, I can't ignore the fact that longer runs would present more opportunity for issues to come up and in turn more chances for compression wear to come in handy. So on that note, I figure I should probably give them a longer test run. I'll plan on running Saturday without them and then again next weekend with them.
Again, if you have any questions, feel free to talk to Jackie in the live chat at CEPsock.com or socksforathletes.com.
Onto the next day's endeavor!
Today I got to enjoy the nutritional benefits of my training. Let me start by asking a couple questions...
Who likes ice cream?
Who likes cake?
Now, who likes ice cream cake?!
This kid!!
I got my hands on an ice cream cake and to put it nicely, Kristin @ Bigger Girls Can Run Too and I attacked it like ravenous dogs on a lonely island where a whale just got beached. Ok, maybe I attacked it and Kristin joined me.
What's that? You don't believe me? Oh, I heard you! Don't try to hide it. Fine! Here's a bit of proof.
I figured the picture on the left would be a bit vague, so I diagrammed it for you. The smiley area was consumed in a matter of approximately five minutes. A total of 1175 calories according to the nutrition label. And now that I'm thinking about it, it's now 9:40pm and I haven't eaten dinner. Haha Let's just call today a non-perfect diet, shall we?
In other news, I finally managed to watch the 207 version of "3:10 to Yuma."
If you are a movie buff in any fashion, you might tend to watch the original versions of new movies before watching the remake. I have my own opinion about the amount of remakes that are in the theaters, but that's another story. Compared to the original, the remake makes use of a lot of the good and "necessary" lines, but takes it's own artistic view of the character Ben Wade as well as the ending. But I must agree that in the end, I like what they did with the film; it was very well done.
I also sat down and watched Love and Other Drugs.
I very much liked this movie! Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway give an extraordinary performance. Thus far, I've not been a fan of Jake, but that may be changing. On top of that, Anne Hathaway is fradiggin HOT! That's not the only reason I loved the movie, though it's certainly a perk. You REALLY start to believe Anne actually has Parkinsons.
I categorize actors into two categories; those who you watch and know they are acting and those who you watch and you actually forget are acting. Anne Hathaway achieved that latter status today.
Questions
1. When was the last time you just threw care to the wind and half of an ice cream cake disappeared?
2. What actors are on your top list?
Stay fit. Stay healthy.

I don't know about returning blood from the extremities, but I love my calf sleeves for the muscle compression. I tend to get all kinds of calf problems without them.
I love ice cream cake, mmmm! I also love 'love and other drugs'. Glad you liked it! I agree that Anne hathaway did an amazing job
Mmmmm... ice cream cake! I haven't eaten half an ice cream cake, but I have downed a pint of Ben & Jerry's ice cream.
Edward Norton is by far my favorite actor. He's picked a lot of interesting roles, plus he's hot. :) For actresses, I like Rachel McAdams and Naomi Watts.
OMG! You can put some serious junk food away my friend! I think the closest I've come to that is eating a pint of Ben & Jerry's in one shot which compared to your ice cream cake feeding frenzy is a joke. You win!! WINNING!! And no, Charlie Sheen would not be one of the actors I like. At all! In fact, even before his lunatic tendencies started, I never cared for him. Favorite actors would have to be Andy Garcia, Jodie Foster and Paz Vega.
On my 20th birthday, my roomie and I bought an 8 serving ice cream cake. We each had 1/8 and then we realized that we didn't have a freezer. I ate the rest of the cake.
Oh, I'm a tazmanian devil when it comes to ice cream and cake! DEVOUR! I'll take them seperately OR together really.
I like Love and Other Drugs too. It was almost like non porn movie porn. I'm lame. ok.
Favorite actor...Russell Crowe and Colin Firth. I know, Russell Crowe is regarded as a huge D Bag but there's something really manly about that guy. I dig it.
@ Richelle - I agree on Edward Norton. He's another one of my favorite actors.
@ TMB - I'm glad I'm not the only one! And props on finishing the cake!!
Love my compression socks on a long run!
When did I not devour cake, ice cream, cookies?!?!?? I simply can't see them, or they'll be gone. Hmmm, I wonder why I can't lose the last 20 lbs...
I'm not a Jake fan either, but do like Anne. That movie is on my Netflix list. Favorite actress is by far Kate Hudson, she's just so darn cute. Actor? Used to be McConnaughy, but he don't do it for me anymore. Maybe Bradley Cooper? Adam Sandler's always good and Will Smith too...
Oooh... we were thinking of renting Love and Other Drugs tonight... sounds like we won't be disappointed (I can oogle over Jake and my hubby can oogle over Anne!)
TMB: What are birthdays for? Sounds like the PERFECT use of a birthday.
And Kurt: Anytime I make or buy cookies - care is thrown to the wind.
