Dear Big Business, I See Past Your Games!

I was driving to the gym the other day when I noticed something.  This "something" made me second guess what I saw.  Could it be true?  Am I hallucinating?  Am I dreaming?  (*pinch myself*)  Ow!  Ok, maybe not.

Do you see what I'm talking about?  It's in the center of the photo.  Just to the left of the pole.

Do you not have eagle eye vision?  That's ok; I'll blow it up for ya'.

Gas is $3.99/gallon.  I paid for gas at that very station earlier this week and it was $4.09.  And the Mobil just up the road dropped ten cents as of today down to $4.09, so gas prices seem to be dipping again.  Is this just a tease?  Are they trying to make us feel like $3 something is a great price after paying $4 something?

Oil tycoons and big business, you are a fishy bunch and I don't trust you  (aka, I have no idea what's going on, but I still know $3.99 is a lot more than gas used to be and will not get sucked into this possible mental game).  I'm still sticking by my trusty infinite mpg bike as much as possible.

PS.  I had a great first day on the job at my new job at the gym.  Plus, it's going to be clear tonight and tomorrow after a straight week of rain, so I'm off for a 20-30 mile ride right now and hopefully a 60 mile ride tomorrow!  Gotta' make up for not being able to run somehow.

EDIT: I did 17.2 miles before it got too dark, but I think I figured out one new place I'm going to try and venture off to on my long ride tomorrow.  I always get excited for these adventure rides!

Questions
1.  Has anyone else noticed a dip?  Do you know what's going on?
I admit I'm completely ignorant when it comes to news and what's going on unless I read about it on a blog or hear it in person from someone.

2.  How did your weekend start out?  Do you have great weather to enjoy?
It's going to be beautiful, so hopefully I can avoid a sunburn and enjoy it!

Stay fit.  Stay healthy.

You're just shifting fuel prices from petroleum companies to agri-business. Watch out for your grocery bills coming up the next months! It takes an army to feed an Ironman!

so glad you're liking the job! I've seen a dip too. I saw it as low as 3.85 today, woooo. So sad that seems "good" now. My weekend is good so far, I got new running shoes!

We should be given a jar of vaseline every time we fill up. It's the "fleecing of America" as Brian Williams puts it. Makes me wanna be sick.

@ Danny - I've already noticed! I've just about doubled my grocery bill in the last couple months.

@ Meg - New shoes are always great!

Gas prices are supposed to be dropping from what I heard, but who knows if they will stay that way. One good thing about living in the midwest is we haven't paid above $4.00 yet, it was $3.69 when I filled up tonight

We were fortunate and had perfect weather today. I got a 6 mile run in and then a day at an amusement park with a friend of mine. It's supposed to be nice again tomorrow...with a 25 mile bike ride in store.

@Michael: but from what I hear you folks also make a lot less money in the midwest. So, as they say it all comes out in the wash.

Congrats on your successful first day!! Have so much fun on your adventure ride tomorrow. I hope you have better luck than I did avoiding sun burn :-/ Who would have that sunscreen should play a vital role in a mid day 15.5 mile run?
p.s. I vote that my car should run on wishes and dreams and not $4 or $3 something a gallon gas. Just a suggestion.

It's aggravating to me that the economy is in the tank and yet oil companies are making record profits. Evidently, all those oil tycoons care about is making money.

The weather has been crappy this weekend... lots of rain and thunderstorms. I got a 10K training run in this morning during a period of light drizzle before heading over to Art-A-Whirl.

Gas here in MN is $3.79/gal.

Gas dipped to like $3.75 here. But I'm with you - it's all a tease... By Memorial Day weekend, it will be back up to the $4 somethings. But the $3's did get me to fill up both cars finally!

Yeah, I have no clue but it ticks me off. they say the prices will be rising this summer so who knows. I hate that we are SO dependent on fuel. It's just disgusting. but until we are willing to alter our lifestyles they will have us by the proverbial balls if you will...

Great job on your rides!!!!
