Ask and Ye Shall Recieve

With the Las Vegas 70.3 race on my mind lately, I've been trying to think of how to change my training to better suit myself for this race.  I haven't attacked making a new training plan just yet (that's later this week), but I've been giving thoughts to how to deal with the change in temperature and climate.  The only thing I've come up with...  Train during the mid-day!

It's going to be HOT in Las Vegas no matter what time of day I race at; especially compared to what I get here in CT.  So I figured, why not just train during the hottest parts of the day.  Right?  Makes sense.  Well...

Ask and Ye Shall Receive

I wanted hot weather.

Mother Nature obliged!

It sure makes the rest of the day super uncomfortable and is increasing my electric bill for sure while I attempt to manage non-body temperature conditions for sleeping.  However, it's perfect for getting used to heat!

So as much as I will complain for the next...  well, at least 10 days, I should embrace this opportunity and make the most of it.  Ok, time to go ride!

Questions
1.  Are you seeing warm weather where you're at?
I'm a winter person, so anything above 65*F and I consider it warm/hot.

2.  What's the worst climate change you had to deal with in a race you traveled to?
Was it heat, humidity, rain, or something else?

3.  Does anyone go to concerts?  If so, what do you like to go see?
I'm heading to see Parachute, Michelle Branch, and my home town boys the Goo Goo Dolls tonight since a friend won some tickets this morning.

Stay fit.  Stay healthy.  Stay safe.

I'd love to see the Goo Goo Dolls.

I like concerts. My favorites are any combination of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.

I hate warm weather for exercising but these days that is what we are getting.

I'm not too far from CT - right over in Albany, NY and the hot is gross. I am ready for October!!! I'd much prefer a dark AM run in the snow, to one where I'm slicing through swamp-air.

It's hotter than blue blazes here. Really. It's 95 out today with a 105 heat index. Thanks but no thanks. Will be doing my 5 miler on the treadmill. It really stinks, I'm an outdoor runner.

I'm looking for a new tri bike. What kind of bike do you have? Right now I have a Lance Armstrong Trek postal edition bike. It's pretty nice but thinking about dropping 1K on a new one. Any suggestions??

I am usually a lover of heat, however 100°F is just nuts for Boston!

Haven't had a bad race yet (Just jinxed myself!).

Dying to see RUSH in concert again. Love those Canadian boys.

It's been super hot and humid here lately and it makes getting workouts done outside nearly impossible!!

It is ridiculously hot here right now. It was 99 plus for my tri this evening...even the water temp was 86+! yuck.

But I have a 70.3 in 3 weeks so I am right there with you, I have been trying to run outside in the heat, even if it is just a few miles. And while pushing my daughter in her stroller which is extra tough!

Humidity gets to me - I do not do well.

Love concerts! My favorite is Jimmy Buffett :)

I am so jealous of your forecast I can't stand it......I guess heat is relative. Replace your 60s and 70s with low 80s and your 80s and 90s with 100s and you will have the weather we have in KC right now. It is just ridiculous. It was 85 degrees this morning at 5 am with 85% humidity. I think I lost like 3 pounds of sweat in an hour.

I love the Goo Goo Dolls and saw them in concert a few years ago. I also love Michelle Branch. Have fun!

ooooh - I see 80 something on your forecast... I'm jealous! Low 90's would be good for me at this point!

Dude, I think I'm melting...the weather here has been nuts. Wed it was only actually 98 but the heat index was 111. Everyday this week has been 104+. Ugh. With humidity of 81% or more life is miserable. I miss the pool!!! =)

Vegas 70.3 is on my mind too..... =/ Wish I were going!!
