Those are just a small list of the things I'll get into with my upcoming race report for the Ironman 70.3 Rhode Island. But today (while I recover and consume massive amounts of calories without ever feeling full), I'd like to talk about one individual topic.
Las Vegas, NV
Has anyone ever been to the area? Does anyone by chance live there or travel to it often? Anyone have family there? Do you know of a great (aka, cheap) hotel that I might be able to snag up for say - oh, I don't know - the 8th to 11th of September?? Do you know what flights are the best to get in and out of the area?
Why are you asking for travel advice for Las Vegas in September?
And why are you asking for the dates that surround the Ironman 70.3 World Championship?
Well, I'm glad you asked ironically informed reader! Guess who got a roll down slot for the 70.3 World Championship?!
THIS KID!
Who's excited?
THIS KID!
Who has no idea how they're going to pay for it?
THIS KID!
Any ideas?

Questions
1. Do you happen to know any bit of advice for the Las Vegas area? The race is in Henderson, NV just outside of Las Vegas.
2. Has anyone ever shipped their bike before?
I'd be all ears for how that works/goes and who to go with.
Stay fit. Stay healthy. Stay safe.

WOW! Can't wait to read the report. Guess that means my time guess was off by a long ways, huh? :)
YAY!!! Congrats! Also, I think I may have family out that way. I will check and get back to you....
Sounds like your 70.3 was eventful, to say the least. Congratulations on your first 70.3 (I checked your results on the event website; man, you rocked it!) and for getting a slot for the WC. You are awesome!
I used to have friends that lived in Las Vegas, but they have moved. My boss's parents live out there, but they still may be in Minnesota (they split their time in both places) during that time frame. I'll check into it.
Leaving us all hangin!!!! I want to know! Never been to Vegas.
dude I live and train here. I have done silverman 1/2 twice. I am a wealth of information, shoot me an email.
awesome congrats!
Well, I can't wait for the race report. Enjoy the rest and recovery!
WOW!!! Congratulations on the roll down slot!
Congratulations on finishing your 70.3 and on your Vegas entry!! Anxious to hear the race recap for sure. I don't know a lot about Vegas, but I'm guessing you'll figure out a way to get there... you have to!
Way to go!
Oh and if you fly Frontier Airlines, your bike counts as one of your checked bags and doesn't cost extra as a large item! May want to check into it :)
Hurry up with the race report! this is such a tease. Just kidding... sort of. :)
I am so excited for you! I have only been to vegas once (to run the RnR full) so I am not much help, but I know you can find pretty great deals on hotel rooms. HAVE FUN planning (after you write the race report).
Congrats again!!!!!!!
I've been to Vegas but only as a drunk tourist. Sigh. Wish I could be more helpful. Can't wait for your report on the 70.3!
Hey, I can't wait to read your race report. USAirways will count your bike as checked baggage if it's fewer than 61 cm I think. Check the website, but it's pretty reasonable I believe.
Congrats!
DARN IT! Haha Im only saying this bc I lost the bet. I was 15 minutes off =(
CONGRATS on your race! I was tracking you on Sunday. Enjoy Vegas, it is a HARD hilly course but that's the fun part right?
WOO HOO! That's freaking fantastic!
We love Vegas... my sister-in-law lives outside of Henderson - super easy to get to from the strip or many hotels near by. Rental cars are cheap! :)
Where are you flying from? If possibly, fly Southwest. They charge $50 for the bike and you can pack all your stuff in with it. Rent a case from a local bike shop. You'll be all set!
Congrats! Can't wait to hear all about it!
