I have converted!

MapMyRun has been my home for online workout tracking since I started this blogging endeavor.  I can't recall who it was that told me about the series of MapMy(insert activity) websites, but I automatically got into it and have loved having the ability to keep track of all my mileage, quickly find a route, and easily track my progress.

However, over the last couple months I've had internal battles over the new "trend," DailyMile.

While online tracking was one thing, I started noticing other blogs with widgets for "most recent workout," "total mileage," and a number of other things.  Despite my searches, it seems no one I know even uses MapMyRun.  EVERYONE has DailyMile; there must be a reason.

So after battling the trend current (really 'finally overcoming my laziness'), I am now the newest member of DailyMile.  Find my profile HERE.  Go ahead, friend me!

Other Non-Relevant Info
Today was also the first day of my training schedule - 3 miles.  It went well, but I certainly have to do a lot of stretching; my hamstrings are TIGHT.

I attempted cooking bay scallops today.  I learned they taste much better in olive than vegetable oil!  I've got half the batch left, so one more experiment left.  Any suggestions?

Questions
1.  Do you use online workout tracking sites?  Do you use DailyMile?

2.  Do you have any secret scallop recipes?

Stay fit.  Stay healthy.

I friended you on DM, but I don't use it much. I've used it to measure runs and pace after I've finished, but now I've got my garmin :) I'm gonna try to use it more though to keep track of my mileage.

I use my iPod to track my runs and walks. And sorry, I don't have any scallop recipes. I have a really good tilapia one, though.

I don't use dailymile, I use beginnertriathlete.com
BEST THING EVER I can download tri or run training plans into my calendar, it downloads all of my Garmin data straight into it, and tracks all my training monthly, yearly, gives me all the graphs and things my little heart could desire....

<3 beginnertriathlete.com :D

Found you on DM. I just added you. I joined last week & love it! I had used RunKeeper for a long time. I really like DM. :) Welcome!

I use Daily Mile - but gosh its horrible as far as an effective training tool.

Looking around there are several sits with widgets that link to their own training logs.

Runner's World is actually one. I like their widgets, and the options for their logs, I just despise how long it takes to load their site.

RunningAHEAD is another site with good logs and widgets.

For speed, convenience and style Daily Mile is the winner (and if you are into it social connections).

Personally, I'm waiting until FloTrack has a public API where people can start making widgets for Flotracks online training logs.

stumbled upon your blog...love the blog idea! i'm also on my journey to become an ironman...and i'm also a scientist! (for now, then going to med school).
Though my IM is June 2011, i'm still very much in the learning process, this IM will be my third race. I know, I'm crazy. Nobody believed I could do a half IM as my second tri ever, esp. since my first was a sprint, but I did, so we'll see if I can pull that off again.
Anyway, good luck to you and I'll be reading in hope to find some tips, etc. :)

Kurt, no tips for the scallops from this non-cooking athlete. I did learn to cook chicken for the first time last year but that's about it. I use buckeye outdoor to log all of my workouts and it has the widget for the blog. I am registered on DailyMile but never use it. Too many social networks to keep up with and since i've been logging on buckeye for almost 4 years, it is hard to transition over and I'm definitely not logging my workouts twice. I'll let you know the next time the IM store has a tent sale, ok?

Katie directed me over to your blog, looks great! I love that you have a definition of IM on the left. If you don't mind I'm going to steal it as I just assumed my visitors would know what is is. How rude of me :) lol

As you know, I've been using DM for a while now so yay!

As for recipes, there's a few I've had on my "want to try" list for a while.

They are this one http://www.fitnessmagazine.com/recipe/vegetables/hoisin-glazed-scallops-with-grilled-zucchini/

and this one http://www.fitnessmagazine.com/recipes/recipecomdetail.jsp?recipeId=25109781

If you try them, let me know what you think.... or just invite me over :P
