I Ask Myself, "Self, are you crazy?"

Have you ever had a moment where you step back, have a little out-of-body experience, look at yourself and think "Wow.  I never realized it, but you're a little insane"?

As a person training for an Ironman, I hear that type of response from a lot of people, but I've never really thought it about myself in that respect.  Then recently I joined a team for the NERelay, a 220 mile relay race across New England (Read about it HERE and HERE).  "Ok, maybe I'm getting a bit extreme."  Then I saw something recently that finally tipped the scale to "crazy."

The American Triple T

Has anyone heard of it?  I sure never had before.  I read somewhere (can't remember where) that it was considered a race harder than an Ironman.  Immediately I'm intrigued!!  You can find the official website for the event HERE.  The race is stretched over three days and as many might guess, the "T" stands for :"Triathlon."  The "Triple" to my best guess stands for the fact that there are three types of triathlons involved.

Day 1:  Afternoon super sprint tri
Day 2:  Morning Olympic tri
Day 2:  Afternoon Olympic tri
Day 3:  Morning Half Ironman

Much like the Goofy Challenge (half marathon Day 1 and full marathon on Day 2), the American Triple T challenges your recovery rate as well as your endurance.

Now obviously I'm no where near ready to do something like this, but it was immediately added to my bucket list.  I've even started debating if I can feasibly sign up for the North Carolina race in October.  It's at times like these that I realize how much I enjoy really testing my body's limits.  You may think I'm crazy and have the mentality of a 4 year old who thinks he's invincible, but I embrace it!

Questions
1.  Have you ever had a moment where you thought you might just be a little crazy?
I've had plenty and each one brings joy to my heart!  I thrive on my inner child and being the athletically "crazy" person

2.  Does anyone else consider you "crazy"?  If so, do you enjoy it, ignore it, or tone things down because of it?
If I hear "Kurt, you're crazy," I automatically want to do something even bigger.

Stay fit.  Stay healthy.

Crazy Moment?

That's hard. Probably the best one is when I told people I took my moto-cross bike out in the snow for a spin (no studs) (earned points from my high school male students, though).

I don't consider raising the athletic bar crazy though. If we're not constantly finding our limits, then life ain't worth living.

Hehe. Pretty sure I've been referred to as crazy but it wasn't in regards to my athletic prowess. Damn ex's. :)
