Irene ruined my weekend

Thanks to this little storm ominously threatening to hit CT some time Sunday, I just got an email from the National MS Society announcing that the MS Bike Tour scheduled for that same day has been postponed.

I can't say I'm too surprised.  While CT does do it's fair share of freaking out at minor weather changes, if Irene actually does hit CT, hosting a bike ride isn't exactly within safety boundaries.  The part that bums me out is the date that they postponed the tour to...

Sunday, September 11th

While I will be awake that day in plenty of time to make the ride, I will unfortunately be two time zones away in Vegas prepping for the 70.3.  I quickly emailed the bike tour coordinator and it seems that this was the only day that worked between the venue, caterers, tent rentals, etc.  So while it looks like I'll be able to transfer my registration to next year's ride, I will miss out this year.

I'm not gonna' lie...
I'm going to be in a bad mood today.

With complete understanding that there is nothing I could have done to prevent this and that my true hope is Irene never gets close enough to cause any damage, a part of me hopes that we really get something worth cancelling this bike ride for and not just a bunch of rain.

I might have to schedule my own bike tour Sunday just in spite of this change of events.

Questions
1.  Has Irene affected any of your weekend plans?
I know a number of you are East Coast habitants.

2.  Have any news, jokes, funny anecdotes, or the like that might brighten my mood?

Stay fit.  Stay healthy.  Stay safe.

Sorry to hear that - that stinks. I have lots of friends up and down the east coast that I'm sure will be affected all weekend. Hope everyone is safe!

How about this for a really bad joke:
What do you call a fly with no wings?

Wait for it...

a WALK!!!

HAHAHAHA! Terrible, I know, but you have to admit you at least smiled, right??

That's a bummer and I would be cranky too. This is how we know we're badass though. I mean, it's water. I bet if they made a tri competition where you had to brave hurricane conditions there would be tons to sign up. I think I would. HAHAHAHA!

Total bummer! Irene is no where near me so it has no effect on my life. :) I did live in Fl for 6 yrs so I had my share of tropical storms.

I think that you should totally host a Tour de Kurt!! If I rode, I'd most definitely participate- but as it stands, I would be more than willing to hand out water and/or medals at the end. You're welcome! :)

Dang. Bummer man. =/

Irene is doing some serious mood killing around here too. We are waiting for her to hit tomorrow evening or Saturday. She has ruined my long run plans, but I think i can get it in Sunday.

To brighten your mood:

LB came home from his first day of school with this story:

LB: Mom! Remember how last year, in kindergarten, we had to run ONE lap before recess? Well this year, in FIRST grade we have to run TWO. And if you get in trouble you have to rune THREE LAPS!
Me: Did you tell your teacher, "Oh well. I love to run, THREE ain't nothing."?
LB: No mom! She might make me run FOUR instead! Or maybe even make me do push-ups!

HA! It made me laugh!

I hope your mood gets better. Look on the bright side though, your going to VEGAS for 70.3!! And that s BAD-A!
